Gamer Glasses Reviews (Eye Strain and Insomnia)

The Science of Gamer Glasses

A 2012 study found that eye strain and photophobia (aversion to light) was primarily caused by Amber Gaming Glasses Reviewblue wavelengths of light (Kardon). This supports years of observational evidence which showed that (amber) blue light blocking glasses prevented eye strain, particularly for individuals, like gamers and programmers, who stared at LED screens for extended periods of time. For this reason, amber gaming glasses allow for much longer periods of screen-related work or gaming without the associated eye strain and headaches.

Moreover, the blue light of screens in the evening causes not only eye strain, but also insomnia ( particularly, Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome). Blue wavelengths from computer and television screens mimic sunlight, blocking production of the sleep hormone melatonin by up to 99%. A 2014 study found that the recent increase in insomnia among young people can be attributed “to the frequent…use of light-emitting and alerting multimedia screens before sleep onset.” The study recommended that those who use screens at night wear amber tinted glasses, which block the insomnia-causing blue wavelengths of light. The study concludes that amber “glasses could serve as a countermeasure with beneficial effects on sleep quality, daytime functioning, and even mood” (Lely, Frey, Garbazza, et al.). A 2007 experiment issued amber glasses to late-night screen users, finding that the glasses allowed over half of participants to fall asleep significantly faster (Phelps).
